I’m a composer and an author (poetry and non-fiction). Piano improvisations and helping folks relate to music that actually touches something deep are my primary passions now. We’ll be examining melodies and themes worth listening to from a wide range of eras and styles–not always separated from harmony or instrumentation. I’ll have comments and I hope you’ll have comments! They don’t have to be technical.
Music from Scratch [MFS] is a separate item and will reside as pages on the site. MFS is the result of years of working mostly with adults to help them take up an instrument, work at improvisation (i.e., composing without polishing), and especially to relate to music in a new way beginning, as always, with listening. Any technical issues I’ll try to clearly explain. There might even be something in these pages for musicians.
